DAWN IN BLUEBELL WOOD BY SUSIE BLUE FELTS

Inspired by peaceful woodland walks in spring, this beautiful original felt artwork by Lancashire artist Susan Wilkinson of Susie Blue Felts captures the colour, texture and atmosphere of a woodland carpeted with bluebells.

Handcrafted using locally produced wool, Susan combines traditional wet-felting techniques with carefully selected fibres, yarns and fabrics to create wonderful depth and texture. Needle felting and embroidery are often added to bring finer details to life, giving each artwork its own individual character.

The rich greens of the woodland canopy contrast beautifully with the vibrant bluebell-covered forest floor, creating an atmospheric piece that brings a little of the British countryside indoors.

Susan discovered felting in 2020 and was immediately drawn to its tactile and meditative qualities. Inspired by landscapes, wildlife and the natural world, her work celebrates the beauty found in the changing British seasons.

The name Susie Blue has a lovely personal story behind it. It was Susan's childhood nickname, affectionately given to her by her dad, who called her “Our Susie Blue” or simply “Our Blue”.
