Bruised Sky & The Moors – Original Felt Artwork by Susie Blue Felts
A wonderfully atmospheric hand-felted landscape capturing the wild beauty of the moors beneath a dramatic, bruised sky. Rich layers of wool, fibres and texture create depth across the landscape, with earthy autumnal tones contrasting beautifully against the dark hills and expressive sky.
Created by Lancashire-based felt artist Susan Wilkinson of Susie Blue Felts, each piece is individually made using traditional wet-felting techniques, with additional fibres, yarns and fabrics adding texture and character. The finished artwork is further embellished using needle felting and embroidery, making every piece completely unique.
Susan discovered felting in 2020 and was immediately drawn to its tactile, meditative nature. Inspired by landscapes, wildlife and the natural world, she transforms wool and natural fibres into richly textured works of art. She is a member of the International Feltmakers Association and local creative group Fellside Felters.
The name Susie Blue has a particularly lovely story behind it – it was Susan's childhood nickname, given to her by her dad, who affectionately called her “Our Susie Blue” or simply “Our Blue”.
Presented in a contemporary white wooden frame with mount and glass, this original artwork makes a beautiful addition to a hallway, living room or bedroom and a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves the British landscape and handmade art.
