Bio of the Artist - Andy Walmsley

With a background in Creative Agency and Studios, going from a young designer to Creative Director and developing a career spanning over 40 years, Andy now spends most of his time film making and painting.

Sometimes combining the two, with a series of artist short documentaries he’s currently working on featuring Lancashire Artists.

His landscape paintings are deeply influenced by his love and passion for the Lancashire landscape and beyond. A keen cyclist, motorcyclist, trail runner and hiker, he spends much of his time in these beautiful settings. “I try and give my paintings a sense of movement, as I’m often passing through a place. I’m not at Plein air stage yet in my painting journey, as
I’m not good at staying in one place for too long. So my work is created from images taken whilst out on my adventures, mixed with what’s in my head.

Working in oils, I tend to work at speed in an attempt to create a style for myself that has an impressionistic approach, so that people can hopefully recognise as a painting of mine.”
